The National Kidney Foundation is pleased that the House of Representatives and Senate overrode a Presidential Veto and passed the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008, H.R 6331 in July. The bill contains a number of important kidney-related provisions, most notably coverage for Stage 4 Patient Education, an automatic update in the reimbursement rate for dialysis treatments, and a quality assurance program for dialysis patients.
