Programs And Services

The Mission of the National Kidney Foundation of Northeast New York is to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation.
To this end, the Northeast New York Affiliate offers the following to assist those facing the challenges of kidney disease. For more information regarding these services, please call (800) 999-9697. Discover the Programs and Services that we offer by following the links below.

Public education and early intervention programs are key in the battle against kidney disease. 26 million Americans and as many as 1.2 million New Yorkers have chronic kidney disease, but most don't know it. Anyone with diabates, high blood pressure or cardiovascular issues is at increased risk of developing kidney disease. The NKF offers a multitude of educational pamphlets, public education and free community screening programs designed to help you know your risk factors. Learn more about chronic kidney disease here. The Northeast New York affiliate offers wellness classes for anyone with risk factors, family history or in early stages of kidney disease. Click here for information on our Keeping Your Kidneys Healthy classes or call 518-533-7880 for more information.

Our patient assistance programs provide emergency grants to assist with housing, medical and nutritional needs. Click here for information on our patient assistance guidelines and here for a free copy of our renal exchange booklet.

The NKF actively supports organ donation through media presence, advocacy, and the distribution of organ donor cards and information. Did you know that 100,000 people are waiting for a life saving transplant and more than 3/4 of them are waiting for a kidney? 18 people die each day while waiting because there are simply not enough organ donors. One organ donor can save or enhance the lives of up to 57 people. Do your part! Resiger to be an organ donor here.

Resources for transplant recipients, living donors and donor families can be found here.
