6. Avoid any unnecessary drug use.

A case for support

  • Since diseases of the kidney and urinary tract remain a major cause of illness and death in the United States, a concerted effort by the government, the private sector and lay and medical volunteers is needed to ease their toll on society, the National Kidney Foundation, Inc. and its 51 Affiliates and over 200 chapters nationwide, comprise the major voluntary health organization in the U.S. whose purpose and efforts are directed to this end.

  • Since its inception in 1950, the Foundation has sought to improve the care and treatment of those afflicted with diseases of the kidney and urinary tract through advances in detection, diagnosis and treatment. The Foundation does this through its six goal areas at both the Affiliate and national levels. The ultimate goal is to take all kidney and urologic diseases from treatment to cure.
